Instructions: 
Bisect between each ray by laying the straight edge along the center and on the intersection of the rays and inner circle. 
Pick up pencil through the middle of the circle.

Connect the intersection of the larger circle of the new rays to each nearest one eighth intersection of the inner circle. Continue until you have finished with all of the new rays. Final pencil sketch should resemble the picture following these instructions.
 
Remove the extra pencil marks if you made them all the way across the construction. Now you are ready to color your compass.

 Coloring hints:  Use dark and light variations of the same color scheme on corresponding rays. Pencils, also add a nice effect for the coloring of specific areas too. Look at the variations on the following pages.
